Castrol Optigear™ Synthetic X is based on synthetic hydrocarbons and Castrol’s Microflux Trans (MFT) Plastic Deformation (PD) additive system, as well as a surface-enhancing additive package.
The MFT PD system helps to improve the lubricant’s performance when operating temperature and loads reach a certain activation energy level, enabling the microscopic smoothing of surface roughness without increasing wear.
The smoothed surface provides optimum protection against wear and an extremely low coefficient of friction, particularly in applications subject to extreme pressures, shock loads, vibrations or low speeds.
MFT PD helps protect against scoring and shock loads, whilst maintaining a high load-carrying capacity, and can help prevent the progression of micro-pitting in previously damaged gears.”
